The Highbury Nou Method
Player Performance Assessment
Agility T-sprint, Ball Drop reaction test, cone dribbling and wall passing. Your player's starting numbers go on record before any training begins.
Weeks 1 to 7
One or two 60-minute sessions a week, built around the level your player showed at the assessment. Speed, ball work, pressure, and the habits that hold up late in a match.
Week 8
Retest the same drills, run the final performance competition, then sit down with you and your player to go through the numbers side by side.
The mindset piece
Every athlete misses a pass. What happens next is a skill, and we train it like one. After an error, our athletes exhale, lift their eyes, and move into a supporting position. Ali reinforces the next action, not the mistake.

What gets measured
Most training tells you your kid "looked sharper." We write down the numbers on day one and test the same drills again in Week 8. The evaluation meeting at the end is built around that comparison, so you leave with facts instead of a feeling.

Programs
Every option starts with the same Player Performance Assessment and is coached by Ali. Pick the format that fits your player and your calendar.
Player Performance Assessment: 45 to 60 minutes, free through Dec. 31st
Small group · Fall and Spring
Eight themed weeks that move from standards and testing to game play and performance, one session a week. Built to sit alongside a club season without overloading the athlete.
Small group · Twice a week
The same eight-week curriculum at twice the volume. For players getting ready for tryouts, a step up in level, or an off-season push.
High School Cohort · Grades 9 to 12
For high school players who want a bigger role next year. Whether you made varsity, JV, or missed the roster this Fall, this Cohort trains the things that decide spots: a clean first touch, faster decisions under pressure, the fitness to last a full match, and the habit of finishing what you start.
Starts in December with our Winter cohort, and again in Spring once the high school season ends. Same 8-week format and pricing as our other programs, 1x or 2x weekly, in groups of at least four. Every player starts with a Player Performance Assessment so you know exactly what to work on, free through December 31.
One-on-one
For players who need focused work on one part of their game, or families whose schedule doesn't fit a group. Ali uses the assessment to decide what each session targets.
3 to 5 players
Sixty minutes with a small group of players at a similar level, grouped from assessment results. More touches than a team practice and more competition than a private session.
Curriculum
Every week has a theme. The drills inside it progress as the group improves, while the themes and the Week 8 retest stay fixed. Pick a week to see sample work.
Week 01 of 08
Sample drills. The full set progresses as the group improves.
Coach
Founder and head coach, Highbury Nou Performance Lab.
Ali has coached youth soccer for more than a decade. Multiple players he developed went on to compete at the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels. He holds a U.S. Soccer coaching license.
Away from the field, he has spent more than 26 years in education and people development, leading programs for students and young adults. That work shapes how he coaches: clear standards, honest feedback, and a plan each player can see.
Focus. Follow through. Finish.
The Performance Lab is built on that sequence. Athletes learn what they are working on, do the reps when it gets hard, and finish what they start. The assessment and the Week 8 retest keep everyone honest, coach included.
Where the work leads
“Coach Ali has coached me to see the game differently. We apply mental strength and focus drills to everything.”

FAQ
The Highbury Nou Player Performance Assessment is where every player starts. It takes 45 to 60 minutes and is free through Dec. 31st, 2026. After that it costs $49, credited toward your first package. Your player runs the same tests used in Week 1 of the development programs: the Agility T-sprint, the Ball Drop reaction test, cone dribbling, and wall passing. Ali records the numbers, watches how your player moves with the ball, and gives you a benchmark profile with the development priorities he recommends.
Boys and girls in the U9 to U18 age groups. Group sessions are split by age band, so younger and older players train separately, and every player is measured against their own baseline, not anyone else's numbers. High school players in grades 9 to 12, seniors included, train together in our Next Season cohort.
We train at several locations across greater Orlando. When you book, Ali confirms the location that works best for your player and your schedule.
Both run eight themed weeks, from foundation and standards through game application to a Week 8 retest. The Fall/Spring program meets once a week for $449. The Accelerated program meets twice a week for $749. The full plan is on the Curriculum page.
The 8-week programs give your player a full arc with testing at both ends and the push of training alongside other players. Small group training ($45 per athlete) suits players who want regular sessions without a season-long commitment. Private sessions ($85, or $320 and $600 for 4 and 8-session packs) are better for a specific gap or a tight schedule. Ali will recommend one after the assessment.
Dates for the next 8-week cohort will be posted here soon. Families who book an assessment now hear about start dates first.
